1689 Baptist Confession Outlines | The Baptist Defender

The Second London Confession (1677) was published openly in England in 1689 and is probably best known now as the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith. The attached pdf files are outlines of the 32 chapter confession, chapter by chapter. These outlines can be used to facilitate a class on the confession doing two chapters per one hour class. Currently, I don’t provide the text of the confession itself, but I may do that later. It is available on the internet and can be purchased in pamphlet form. The 1689 is strongly influenced by reformed theology leading to a covenant theological view of the law. With that caveat, it remains a wonderful expression of Christian orthodoxy and wordsmithing, par excellence. It can be used as a tool to teach systematic theology without using an academic tome.
