Dear Readers:

I provide commentary and review on existing theological materials primarily for the edification of Baptists, but also for anyone who is interested. Obviously, I advocate for the Baptist cause from the Scriptures and I believe that it is a worthy endeavor, for which I do not consider myself particularly worthy. Whatever abilities I may have, I give credit to God and His providence. Although I have studied many theological works written from various positions and written over a span of many centuries, the 66 books of the Bible are my final authority. I have no theological letters after my name and have never attended any seminary. In my secular education, I attained a Ph.D. many years ago, and I have worked in a secular career that has honed my learning and reasoning skills. In the realm of theology, I can only claim a regenerate heart and mind by the grace of God. This spiritual birth produced in me a desire to know Him through His Word. This is what I have tried to do for the past two decades.

Undoubtedly, some readers may take issue with various positions that I hold. I write all of the content for this site and take full responsibility for it. Over the past twenty years my views on some areas of doctrine and practice have changed because my understanding of what the Bible has to say on the subject has changed. No one ever gets everything right. For readers who happen to know me, my commentary does not in all cases represent the doctrinal position of the church I attend, but in most cases will. I fit fairly well into conservative Baptist orthodoxy. You will not read “rogue” theology at this site. My main purpose in creating this web site is my deep concern that Baptists are slowly, almost imperceptibly, losing their Baptist distinctives to the degree that I feel the need to stand publically for them. “Therefore, we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.” My prayer is that you find this endeavor helpful in your Christian walk and food for thought. Please pray before you read.

God bless you!
